The geographic footprint of Findex is vast. With over 110 offices across Australia and New Zealand, a large proportion of our staff and clients are regionally based and members of thriving rural communities.

The recent bushfires in Australia impacted many of these communities and Findex has been actively involved in fundraising activities and other initiatives to help support those affected. So, when we were asked to be a sponsor of the Warragul and District Cricket Association’s T20 match, we didn’t hesitate to be involved.

Held on 16 February and featuring some of the club’s best cricketers, the match was the brainchild of Matt Runnalls from mental health charity Mindfull Aus, to raise funds to support those affected by the recent bushfires in the local area.

Players came from all over the region including Buln Buln, Jindivick, Warragul, Drouin, Longwarry and Bunyip. Findex sponsored the East side, which featured our very own Sam Batson from the Warragul office as Captain, and included Findex employees, Jack Armour and Trevor Gardiner.

The day was a huge success attracting players and spectators from all over the region. It was great to see the Findex sponsored team get the win, chasing down 182 with three overs to spare. With the players on both sides smashing 20 fours and nine sixes, it was a thrilling game to watch.

The event raised more than $8,000 on the day plus a further $1,400 from the Findex Community Fund after the event - much needed funds for the community to help them rebuild their lives. It was also a great opportunity for everyone to come together, enjoy a day off and be with those who understood what they had just been through. Despite the long road still ahead, the day was a positive and affirming step forward for everyone involved.
