Our employees are the lifeblood of our business. So, every fortnight, we’re shining the spotlight on someone in our business and sharing their story at Findex.

This week, we’re chatting to Jacqueline Carmont, who is a Partner in the Business Advisory team, located in ourSydney office.

Hi Jacqueline, can you tell us a bit about your role at Findex?

As a Business Advisory Partner, no two days are the same!

Currently, I am advising a high growth business on how they can appoint and develop the next generation of management. Last month I was in a change advisory role, assisting a client to implement recent legislative changes in the retirement living sector. And I’ve just finished a Global Mobility Service Steering Committee call planning for 2020.

I enjoy helping clients get stuff done – there is a need for implementation support, particularly in the people and change space.

Can you tell us about your journey and how you ended up in your current role?

I joined an accounting firm, the old BDO Nelson Parkhill, as a cadet straight out of high school. That automatically sorted out my majors at university and my graduate position! I then moved into a Tax team at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where I completed my Chartered Accountant qualifications and a tour to Hong Kong.

After ten years I needed a change and I secured a Chief of Staff role in PwC’s global office in New York, working for the Global Assurance People Leader. This experience prompted me to start my MBA and a move into the world of management consulting, focusing on People and Change. After a variety of change assignments around the world, I took on the role of Global Agility Leader for PwC based in New York and then moved into a People Transformation role.

But home was calling, and I returned to Australia as Chief Operating Officer of the PwC Assurance business. After a few years I moved into a group role on the new Digital Technology Leadership team.

After the birth of my son I had a career break and decided if I was going to re-enter the workforce I wanted a new change and challenge. I considered several options – from starting my own business through to working in industry. An old friend from my tax days introduced me to my new boss and this is how I ended up as a Partner in the Business Advisory practice.

I help clients get stuff done, work with some awesome people and have fun along the way!

What has been your highlight at Findex so far?

Presenting at the recent Global Crowe conference and meeting the talented leaders from across our extensive network.

What do you look forward to each day?

My morning coffee. But once I’ve had my caffeine fix, it’s really about the people interaction. I love meeting and understanding the stories of our clients and their people.

What do you most enjoy about working at Findex?

The people and the unique offering we have – our services extend beyond advisory, tax, superand audit into wealth management, lending and insurance. Our regional presence is also impressive. I’ve only made a small dent in meeting with colleagues from across our 100+ offices in Australia and New Zealand!

What are your goals for the next 12 months?

Continuing to support our clients with whatever is keeping them awake at night, helping them meet and exceed their objectives, and having fun with the team along the way!
