What is your startup and what problem is it solving for the agriculture industry?
Checkpoint is a software subscription service providing identification and surveillance capacity for managing biosecurity risk. If you grow, trade, inspect or transport commodities, you should have a plan to manage biosecurity risk. Checkpoint provides a comprehensive toolset to do just that.
We are one of the world’s most comprehensive interactive biosecurity database. We have integrations with diagnostic image libraries, expertise workflows and citizen science networks, all in a secure environment that is designed to protect trade.
Tell us more about your enterprise and what inspired this idea?
At heart, we are very much a research and technology company. We were born as a result of the collaboration between private industry and the Plant Biosecurity CRC.
What drives us is knowing the amount of effort that’s required for the world’s producers to continue to put food on the table and feed our growing population. That’s the real challenge.
What hurdles have you faced and conquered on your startup journey so far?
We’ve learned over the course of a decade, that bringing together the best tools and harmonising the approach to managing biosecurity risks is the most effective way to meet the challenges we face.
We believe our development and integration of the core technologies of PaDIL in visual diagnostics, Bowerbird in citizen science and Pestpoint in applied workflows for pest identification and surveying, into the Checkpoint platform, is the future for people across the world solving biosecurity issues.
How can interested clients, farmers, or investors contact you?
