Wyatt Bradley started with the Findex graduate program as a trainee in the Business Advisory Division in 2018. Before that he was working two jobs and studying part-time. He simply inquired about any vacancies at Findex, and the rest is history. Here he shares his experience and advice for any graduates looking for an opportunity to develop their skills.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role at Findex

I have been employed in the Business Advisory department for three and a half years providing general tax compliance and other advisory matters in line with ATO regulations. This time has been challenging and rewarding with the ability to work across several teams from different regions. I primarily am based out of the Townsville office located in North Queensland. I started as a trainee and worked my way to become an accountant whilst studying part time at university and working full time. Besides working I love a drink, food and good company.

How did you get the role at Findex?

Before working at Findex, I worked two jobs, one as a basic bookkeeper and the other selling tools. I ran into Regional Client Lead, Troy Popham, one day and simply inquired if there were any vacancies. As luck would have it, there was, and the rest is history.

Describe a typical day in the role you have now.

A typical day begins around 7:45a.m., which gives me enough time to get a coffee before diving into my tasks. I check my emails and action as required. Depending on the project I’m working on, there may be queries to send off or finalisation needed in which case, I would send the details to our client services team to complete.

For any undergraduate at university considering joining Findex, I highly recommend it and would suggest applying now! It’s more than the Findex brand, but the fact the day-to-day tasks vary, so you could be working on one of many types of business services in one day. Depending on the complexity of the task, it may take you weeks to complete, but by doing this, you are provided with purpose and a foundation to build on your knowledge and experience.
