With the help of Findex, they were able to tap into the Queensland grant funding they needed.
Through a collaborative and hands-on approach, Findex helped RLC secure $2.8 million in grant funding for a multi-purpose sporting facility that will transform both the school and its surrounding community.
The relationship began when RLC attended a Findex webinar, hosted in partnership with Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ). The webinar focused on the Go for Gold Grant, a Queensland government grant funding opportunity for schools looking to upgrade their sporting facilities ahead of the 2032 Olympics. This event opened the door to possibilities that ultimately helped the college secure significant funding and embark on a project that will make a lasting impact on its students and the community.
What set Findex apart for RLC was our deep understanding of the education sector and our personal, tailored approach. Our team took the time to get to know the school, the community it serves, and the unique challenges it faces.
"Findex’s personal approach made the whole experience so reassuring. Their team helped us navigate the grant process from start to finish, and thanks to them, we secured $2.8 million to build our school’s sporting facility, providing an opportunity to promote social inclusion and health in our community, really adding great value to the area." Nathanael Edwards, RLC Principal.
From the outset, Findex provided hands-on support, guiding RLC through every step of the application process. This included understanding the specific needs of the college, especially with its significant Indigenous population, and ensuring that the grant submission aligned with both the school’s objectives and the broader goals of the grant. Our team of experts worked closely with school leaders to ensure that all necessary details were included, giving the college the best chance of success.
Securing school grants such as the Queensland’s Go for Gold grant funding provides schools with opportunities they might otherwise struggle to afford. For RLC, this grant was particularly crucial. The school had no dedicated sporting infrastructure aside from a large oval, which limited its ability to support sports events, inter-school competitions, and physical education. The new multi-purpose sporting facility, made possible through the grant, will provide students with access to a range of sports including hockey, Tball, football, soccer, and futsal.
School grants like these not only help enhance the educational experience but also create lasting impacts for the broader community. The new facility will be a hub of activity for local sports clubs and organisations, providing a space that promotes fitness, teamwork, and community engagement. It also supports RLC’s mission to foster social inclusion and provide Indigenous community support, as the Indigenous community makes up a significant portion of its student body.
The world of grant applications can be overwhelming, but our expertise made all the difference for RLC. From helping the school identify the right grant opportunity to ensuring that the application was strong and met all necessary criteria, we played a pivotal role in the Queensland school’s grant success.
The team’s in-depth knowledge of the education sector, combined with their familiarity with funding processes, allowed RLC to feel supported throughout the journey. We provided ongoing advice, handled the detailed administrative requirements, compiled their Project Plan and Project Budget and ensured that every part of the grant application was aligned with the school’s vision. By taking the pressure off the school’s leadership team, Findex allowed them to focus on their core mission—educating and supporting their students—while still securing the necessary funds to expand their facilities.
The success of the RLC grant application is a testament to the power of collaboration. Working together with Findex, the school was able to navigate the complexities of grant writing and secure funding that will not only improve the educational environment and program but will also leave a lasting legacy for the community.
The construction of the multi-purpose sporting facility is set to be completed by June 2025, but the benefits are already clear. Students at RLC will soon have access to state-of-the-art sports infrastructure, giving them the opportunity to develop physical fitness, teamwork skills, and a love for sports. The facility will also provide opportunities for leadership development as students engage in team sports and take on new responsibilities both on and off the field.
Meanwhile, the wider community will benefit from a much-needed local space for sporting events and activities. Located on the outskirts of town and surrounded by rainforest, RLC is the only institution in the area with such facilities, making this development a vital addition for local sports clubs and community groups.
The multi-purpose sporting facility at RLC is more than just a new building—it is a symbol of what can be achieved when schools and organisations work together toward a common goal. Queensland grants like the Go for Gold fund offer schools the financial support they need to build facilities that will benefit students and the broader community for years to come.
For RLC, this project will promote social inclusion, foster healthy lifestyles, and create a space where both students and community members can thrive. And for Findex, it represents yet another example of how our personalised, hands-on approach to grant applications can help schools secure funding that drives meaningful change.
As Radiant Life College looks forward to the completion of their new facility in 2025, the school continues to work closely with Findex to ensure that this project not only meets its goals but exceeds them. Together, they are building a brighter, healthier future for both the students of RLC and the surrounding community.
