For the first time, Findex has sponsored the Saltire Intern Programme, a program which connects Scottish University students with entrepreneurial organisations from around the world.
On June 12, Findex welcomed Hannah Gailey, from the University of St Andrews, who joined Findex’s Sydney office to start an eight-week internship.
Founded and nurtured by the GlobalScot network in 2007, Entrepreneurial Scotland’s Saltire Scholar programme was created to find, fuel and spark the next generation of leaders for Scotland. GlobalScot, Scotland’s International Business Network, connects highly-experienced business leaders, entrepreneurs and executives around the world and is endorsed by the Scottish Government.
The Saltire Scholar Programme forms an integral part of Entrepreneurial Scotland, whose mission is to inspire, develop and connect current and future leaders to make Scotland the most entrepreneurial society in the world.
Hannah Gailey studies International Relations and Management at the University of St Andrews. During her internship Hannah’s responsibilities will be to support key projects and client work within Findex’s Performance Consulting division.
“I’m very excited to have secured such a prestigious internship with Findex as an ambassador for the Saltire Foundation. I’m sure that working within such a world leading and innovative firm in these coming weeks will provide me with invaluable insights. Having studied at the University of Melbourne last year, I’m very much looking forward to experiencing all that life and work in Sydney has to offer,” said Hannah.
Equipped with the skills and experience from these world-class internships, Saltire Scholars return to their final year of university with a renewed sense of ambition and capability of being the next generation of leaders in Scotland.
Peter Gardiner, who is a GlobalScot and Executive Managing Partner of Specialist Services at Findex has initiated this collaboration between the Saltire Intern Programme and Findex.
Peter said, “As far back as Adam Smith Scotland has been producing financial services professionals of the highest calibre. Findex is delighted to support Hannah’s development and we look forward to fostering innovative client solutions during her time with our performance consulting team.”
Through the support of Peter Gardiner, as well as his fellow GlobalScots, such as; Dr Mark Bonnar (Managing Director, Southern Cross Venture Partners) and Professor Ian Frazer (founding CEO and Director of Research of the Translational Research Institute), the network has helped transform the face of Scottish business, giving hundreds of emerging and growing Scottish indigenous companies a head start to compete in a global marketplace and encouraging foreign owned businesses to establish themselves in Scotland.
